Marisa Victoria Ledesma-Reed is a 17-years-old American writer from Pennsylvania who had her ebook “My Muted Mate” chosen as the ebook of the week by the Widbook team. You can read it for free by clicking here. She shared her life and tips on this exclusive interview.

Widbook – How it is, in your opinion, the publishing industry in the United States?

Marisa - The publishing industry is pretty good since there are many different kinds. There are lots of different opportunities.

How long time did you take to finish My Muted Mate?

It took me about five-six months. I was so excited about writing the whole story that it didn’t take me too long.

Why did you chose Widbook to publish your ebook?

Because it’s one of my favorite stories I have written. I always feel proud of myself when I finish a story and it’s my most popular on another self-publishing website.

What are your goals and what are you doing to reach them?

My goal when I graduate from high school is to actually fix some of the stories I’ve written and hopefully publish them. I consider the stories I’ve written as my first drafts, so I want to edit them, change some stuff, change the title, and work on stuff to make it a better story. I know publishing isn’t as easy as it sounds, but I’ve grown threw out the last couple of years to grow thick skin for criticism.

Which book are you reading at the moment?

I’m reading a book called Empress of the Seven Hills by Kate Quinn.

Who are your favorite authors?

Hmm, I have allot. Well my favorites could be Lauren Kate, she was one of the first few authors who book I read when I started reading (I use to hate reading, I started when I was 13). Cassandra Clare. Suzanne Collins. Kate Quinn. Cynthia Hand. That is just a few I can think of at the moment.

If you could change something in the world, what would that be?

If I could change the world, it would be the hate different countries feel for each other. Cheesy as it sounds, but if we all didn’t disagree on something and throw a tantrum, there wouldn’t be a need to spend so much money on a war and million of lives being over at such a young age. Also how everyone most days spend so much on technology. I use to read so much but now I have to make time to read because I’m so distracted on the internet (I’ll admit that haha).
